The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, SABSA and NorthWest Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) will sponsor a free workshop entitled Not in My Family – AIDS in the African American Community. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Simmons College of Kentucky located at 1811 W. Dumesnil. Author and syndicated columnist, Gil L. Robinson will lead the workshop. The workshop is free but advance registration is requested due to space limitations. The workshop will cover such topics as Understanding the Role of Denial to Manage HIV/AIDS, Methods for Parents to Conduct Safe-Sex Dialog with Their Children, Effective Outreach Strategies for the Health Care Community, and Methods of Including the Clergy into the HIV/AIDS Conversation. The workshop is open to the general public. Clergy, health care providers, and neighborhood leaders are especially encouraged to attend.
